2016 Five Year History and Proposed 2016 Millage Rate Notice
NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE
The Pickens County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 13.84 percent over the rollback millage rate of 7.203 mills.
All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase to be held at 1266 East Church Street, Suite 168, on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 10 a.m. and at 6 p.m.
The time and place of an additional public hearing on this tax increase will be Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. prior to the regularly scheduled Board of Commissioners’ meeting at 5:30 p.m.
The millage rate will be approved and adopted at the 5:30 BOC meeting on September 15, 2016.
This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 8.2 mills, an increase of 1 mill. Without this tentative increase, the millage will be no more than 7.203 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $150,000 is approximately $55.00 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $40.00.
