Alcohol Licenses

How to Obtain an Alcohol License

Step 1. Applicant must run an ad in the local newspaper for four consecutive weeks.
Step 2. Bring completed application to Pickens County Planning and Development Office with copies of:

  • Legal ad and Publisher’s affidavit showing that the ad ran for four consecutive weeks
  • Warranty Deed or Lease Agreement
  • Verification from Planning & Development that the property is currently zoned for the intended use and show by map distance that the property is at least 600 feet from a church or school.
  • Filled-out SAVE Affidavit
  • Photos of all four sides of the building to be used.
  • If an individual, provide a copy of a State issued driver’s license or identification.
  • Corporations must provide a certificate of good standing issued by the Georgia Secretary of State’s office and the company authorization for the individual signer of the application to execute the same for the company.
  • Criminal history report issued by the Pickens County Sheriff’s office.
  • Farm winery applications: provide a copy of federal license and physical address of tasting room.

Step 3. Pay all fees. Fees are subject to services you wish to provide in the establishment. Check fee schedule for more information. Application fees are nonrefundable.
Step 4: Request that Planning & Development staff schedule a meeting with the Pickens County Beer and Wine Licensing Board.

Special Events License

Current alcohol license holders may obtain a Special Events license for up to 12 events per year, with each event to last up to 2 days at a time. Non-license holders may obtain this license for up to 3 events per year. If you would like to apply for this license, submit a completed form along with the $100 fee to the Planning & Development office. The Beer & Wine Board must authorize approval of this license.
